Metal Roofing

Standing seam and exposed fastener metal roof installation in Baton Rouge. Built to outlast hurricanes, reflect Louisiana heat, and last 50 years and beyond.

Metal roofing isn't for every Baton Rouge home, but for the homeowners who choose it, the value proposition is hard to beat. 50 year and up lifespan, hurricane grade wind resistance (often 140 to 160 mph), reflective coatings that lower attic temperatures by 20 degrees Fahrenheit or more, and a clean architectural look that's increasingly popular on Louisiana modern, coastal, and farmhouse style builds.

We install both standing seam (the premium architectural choice) and exposed fastener panels (the more economical option) for residential homes across Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes.

Every install starts with a free, no obligation consultation. We walk your roof, talk through whether metal is the right fit for your home and your timeframe, and give you a written, itemized quote. We also quote a comparable architectural asphalt option side by side so you can make a real comparison. Our crews are local, licensed, and insured.

Standing Seam vs. Exposed Fastener

Standing seam metal roofing uses concealed fasteners and raised seams between panels. The look is clean, modern, and architectural. Standing seam handles thermal expansion better, has zero exposed fasteners (the most common metal roof failure point), and lasts 50 to 60 years and beyond. It's the right choice for homeowners who want the metal roof aesthetic and longevity.

Exposed fastener panels (R panel, AG panel, 5V crimp) use screws driven directly through the panel into the roof structure. They're significantly less expensive and faster to install, but the exposed screws need retightening every 10 to 15 years and are the most common leak point. Best for outbuildings, barns, and budget driven applications rather than primary residences.

Why Metal Performs Well in Louisiana

Hurricane resistance. Properly installed standing seam metal carries 140 to 160 mph wind ratings, better than asphalt shingles. The interlocking seams resist uplift in extreme winds.

Heat reflection: Metal roofs, especially with reflective coatings like Galvalume or Kynar finishes, reflect significantly more solar radiation than asphalt. Attic temperatures can run 15 to 25 degrees Fahrenheit cooler under metal, a real factor in Baton Rouge summers.

Longevity: A standing seam metal roof installed today will likely outlast the home. 50 to 60 years is typical, with installations of 70 years or more not uncommon.

Insurance discounts: Some Louisiana carriers offer premium discounts for metal roofs in hurricane zones because of the wind performance. Worth checking with your agent.

Resale: Metal roofs are increasingly valued in the Baton Rouge market and don't carry the negative resale perception they once did. On modern and farmhouse style builds, metal can actively increase appraised value.

Why Underlayment and Ventilation Matter More Than Brand

A standing seam metal roof typically costs 2.5 to 3 times the price of an architectural asphalt shingle roof of the same size. For a 2,000 square foot Baton Rouge home, that's roughly $25,000 to $45,000 for standing seam vs $9,000 to $15,000 for architectural asphalt.

But the metal roof lasts roughly twice as long. If you plan to stay in your home 20 years or more, the lifetime cost per year is comparable.

For shorter timeframes or budget constrained projects, architectural asphalt is the better economic call.
